GRANT PROGRAM

PURPOSE & GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT AWARD

The purpose of GFPTgrant program is to promote the highest quality, scientifically based, and clinically relevant research with priority given to projects with a clinical application. Proposed studies should add to or refine the body of knowledge on which physical therapist practice is based using any of a variety of recognized investigative methods, such as experimental, descriptive, or correlational. Proposed studies should begin to address the most critical questions in clinical practice. The project should be a collaborative venture between two or more partner organizations or institutions.

AMOUNT AND TIMEFRAME OF AWARD

GFPT grants are limited to a maximumof $10,000.Application deadline is February 15, 2019. Awardee will be notified by March 15, 2019. Funding will begin May 1, 2019 and must be expended within a 24 month budget period of the award.  

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY

PI eligibility

The GFPT Grant funds are available to members of PTAG. The applicant must be a licensed physical therapist or physical therapy assistant or have met the eligibility for physical therapy licensure. The applicant should contact the Board President before applying if there is any question as to meeting one of the above three criteria.

Type of proposal 

Proposals will evaluate the efficacy of physical therapist interventions within any discipline relevant to physical therapy. Project outcomes should focus on the quality and delivery of patient care.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Because proposals are evaluated by an interdisciplinary peer review panel, they should be written to be understood by people who are notin the applicant’s field of study or experts in the applicant’s field of study.Applicants should limit their use of jargon and acronyms whenever possible.
